Countdown to iWireless Solution’s 10th Anniversary – Week Three of Ten
This week we thought we would tell you a little of our story, as a journey through some of our highlight projects over the last ten years.
Our first major project in 2006 was the O2 Arena and Entertainment district. In 2007 we worked at a London airport project to support the first iPhone (yes, it was that long ago!). During 2008 we designed and installed an InBuilding solution at one of the corporate buildings within Canary Wharf. We were asked to upgrade a selection of London Rail Stations to support 3G in 2009.
Twickenham Stadium was a fantastic project in 2009, increasing the capacity from 4 sectors by the power of ten. We actually achieved 43 DAS sectors. The same year, we were getting heads down hard starting on the Research & Development and Inception for the next big project which was to occupy most of the next two years – the London Olympics in 2012. We were engaged to provide cellular services for almost all of the Olympic venues, you can read more about some of our Olympic projects here. Once we’d successfully completed the Olympic projects, by 2013 we were commissioned to design and deploy full Wi-Fi coverage throughout the public areas of Chester Racecourse. Another highlight that year was to design and install a multi-operator 2G, 3G and 4G solution at the flagship store of a major high-end department store in London.
In 2014, we were firmly back in the world of sport, designing, installing and delivering an InBuilding solution to 3 sports venues for an international sports event hosted in Glasgow that year. This program was scheduled to be completed in three months, but we managed to complete in just one month, with many of the team working around the clock.
2015 was a busy year for us too, as we rolled out wireless solutions to supporting connectivity at some of the Rugby World Cup venues, as well as other stadia and a prestigious private school in the UK. We also undertook a huge project, surveying, designing and installing solutions at over 1,300 locations for a UK-wide household retail organisation.
Bringing us to the current year. Our highlight of 2016 so far has been at the UK headquarters of a multi-national corporation in central London, delivering a full wireless solution for multi-operator (DAS), HD Wi-Fi and DMR. We were closely engaged from the early stages of the build of the building, meaning that the designs could be developed in line with the construction and were able to evolve and adapt to support the building requirements, build plan and business KPIs.
