iWireless Solutions create a Wi-Fi system for Chester Racecourse that goes the distance
In 2013, iWireless Solutions designed and deployed a Wi-Fi trial solution for a small section of the 65-acre Chester Racecourse, namely the Dee Stand and Parade Ring Corner. Following the success of the Wi-Fi in these locations, Chester Racecourse, Britain’s oldest racecourse, set out to obtain full Wi-Fi coverage throughout the public areas of the site with O2 Wifi and sponsored by Betfair. Chester Racecourse runs a number of events throughout the year and the venue attracts between 12,000 to over 35,000 people per race, so it is essential that the wireless system can support such a capacity. Following a feasibility design in December 2013, iWireless Solutions started the install in February 2014, working to a fixed deadline to have the whole system live and fully optimised, in time for the first race of the year during the May Day bank holiday.
